Snowbox Derby Rules

Official Rules for the Snowbox Derby

  1. Cubs design their own cardboard sleds (with help from a parent)
  2. Only CARDBOARD, crayon, or wax may be on the bottom touching the snow.
  3. Decorate your sled using anything you wish
  4. Helmets MUST be worn on all runs.
  5. Only Cub Scouts can race in the sled, but there can be many Cub Scouts in a single sled at one time (example:  a Den sled)
  6. Sleds can be of any size and shape... be creative and have FUN!!!
  7. Siblings may participate using their own cardboard sled, but are not elegible for prizes.

The emphasis is on the Cubs' creativity, and designing and building the sleds.

 

Each contestant should check in 30 minutes prior to race time, line up their sled for show/judging, and then race one time in each of three lanes for distance.  Awards will be given out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places as well as Most Creative Sled Design.
